An American drone operator grapples with her new job, killing remotely from a desert base outside Las Vegas. The opening cue references the Islamic world she is watching and targeting, and goes on to underscore her initial reminiscence of being an F-16 fighter pilot in the “vastness of the blue”.  Driving to and from the base she listens to a lot of AC/DC on the radio, but in a final journey her partner has made a mix CD of favourite music ending in The Pony Song, an incongruous addition referring to her daughter Sam's love of toy pink ponies. This has previously annoyed her mother, but the song brings some relief and pleasure.  The playwright George Brant supplies the lyrics but suggests each production makes a new version.
